【profile】
Tsutomu Ochiai
Born in Tokyo in 1947. From 1978 he began training as a chef in Italy.
After returning to Japan, he became the head chef of Granata, an Italian restaurant that opened in Akasaka, Tokyo the following year in 1982.
1997: Opened LA BETTOLA
May 2005: Awarded the Star of Italian Solidarity and the Cavaliere medal
2009: Appointed Chairman of the Japan Italian Cuisine Association
Received the "Contemporary Master Craftsman" award in 2013
He was appointed Honorary Chairman of the Japan-Italian Cuisine Association in 2020. He has experience as a guest chef on board Japan's leading cruise ship, Asuka II.

With a warm climate, blessed with the natural beauty of the sea and mountains, and delicious wine, Miyazaki and Italy seem to have something in common.
